How Much Does a Solar System Cost in Pakistan?

There is no single price for a solar system in Pakistan. A small system for a home with modest electricity consumption can cost substantially less than a larger system designed to support multiple air conditioners and other high-power appliances.

The final cost is determined by the complete system rather than the panels alone. A typical installation can include solar panels, an inverter, mounting structures, wiring, electrical protection, installation and potentially battery storage.

As an example of the variation in the market, a March 2026 market listing put a 5kW hybrid system without batteries at approximately Rs. 473,000. Actual installed prices can be higher or lower depending on the equipment and installation requirements.

Solar System Sizes for Homes

Solar systems are commonly described by their capacity in kilowatts (kW). The appropriate size depends on your electricity consumption, peak loads, available roof space and your goals for solar generation and backup.

Solar System With or Without Batteries

One of the biggest differences between solar installations is whether battery storage is included.

A system without batteries primarily uses solar generation when it is available and can interact with the electrical grid depending on the system configuration.

A battery-equipped system can store energy for later use and provide backup capabilities. However, adding batteries increases the upfront cost, and the required battery capacity depends on your nighttime loads and backup requirements.

How Many Solar Panels Do You Need?

The number of panels depends on the desired system capacity and the wattage of the panels selected.

For example, using 585W panels, a nominal 5kW array would require roughly nine panels to exceed 5kW of panel capacity:

9 × 585W = 5.265kW

In practice, system design is more complicated than simply dividing the target capacity by panel wattage. The inverter's electrical specifications, roof layout, panel orientation, shading and other design considerations all need to be evaluated.
